A superintelligence domain is a domain whose name, extension or both signal superintelligence. Safe Superintelligence Inc. does it with an acronym on a corporate extension, ssi.inc. Another route is a short name on .si, which in our framing reads as SuperIntelligence. This guide maps how the labs name themselves and which domains they use.
Between September 19 and 29, 2026, “SI” went from a suggested name for AI to official US federal usage, and .si registrations jumped. Our search data, though, shows that people look for the labs, not the domains, and that should shape how you pick a name.
People search for the labs, not the domains
Ahrefs showed 0 monthly US searches for “superintelligence domain” on October 5, 2026, while “superintelligence” drew 3,800, “safe superintelligence” 3,000 and “meta superintelligence labs” 1,300. People search for the labs building superintelligence, not for superintelligence domains as a category.
| Keyword | US searches per month | Global searches per month |
|---|---|---|
| superintelligence | 3,800 | 11,000 |
| safe superintelligence | 3,000 | 5,700 |
| meta superintelligence labs | 1,300 | 2,600 |
| ssi ai | 500 | 1,000 |
| superintelligence domain | 0 | Not reported |
This is our own data point. Demand attaches to brands such as Safe Superintelligence and Meta Superintelligence Labs. A superintelligence domain earns attention through the company that builds on it, so the name must work as a brand first and a signal second.
How superintelligence labs name themselves
Labs built around superintelligence put the word in their legal name and then brand with something short. Big Tech companies keep superintelligence as a team or sub-brand on the parent company’s domain.
| Organization | Name pattern | Where it lives | Extension type |
|---|---|---|---|
| Safe Superintelligence Inc. | Full term in legal name, brands as SSI | ssi.inc | .inc, a generic TLD (per IANA) |
| Recursive Superintelligence, Inc. | Full term in legal name, brands as Recursive | recursive.com; recursive.si redirects there (our check) | .com, plus a .si redirect |
| Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL) | Sub-brand of Meta, acronym MSL | meta.com/superintelligence (vision letter); models on ai.meta.com | .com (parent domain) |
| Microsoft AI, MAI Superintelligence Team | Team inside the Microsoft AI division | microsoft.ai/superintelligence | .ai (Microsoft AI domain) |
| Ineffable Intelligence | “Intelligence” in the name, superintelligence in the mission | ineffable.ai | .ai |
All rows were checked on October 5, 2026. Safe Superintelligence (SSI) describes itself on ssi.inc as a “straight-shot SSI lab” with one goal and one product, a safe superintelligence. The acronym carries the whole brand. Recursive Superintelligence, Inc. uses its full legal name in the site’s copyright line but goes by Recursive, on recursive.com.
Recursive is also the clearest link to .si. Domain Name Wire reported on June 11, 2026, based on NameBio sales data, that Recursive.si sold for $20,000. It was one of only two end-user purchases among the 35 .si sales recorded from January to June 9. Our HTTP check on October 5, 2026, found that recursive.si redirects to recursive.com.
Meta published Mark Zuckerberg’s letter on personal superintelligence on July 30, 2025, at meta.com/superintelligence. Meta’s executive bio says Alexandr Wang leads Meta Superintelligence Labs. We found no standalone MSL domain, and its models appear on ai.meta.com. Microsoft took the same route: Mustafa Suleyman announced the MAI Superintelligence Team on microsoft.ai on November 6, 2025.
OpenAI kept its name and openai.com. For who else is building superintelligence, and why, read our explainer on what superintelligence is.
What the labs’ domain choices show
The choices show three patterns: short acronyms, sub-brands on existing domains, and a shortage of exact-match .com names.
Acronyms and short names carry the brand
Safe Superintelligence becomes SSI, Meta Superintelligence Labs becomes MSL, and Recursive Superintelligence becomes Recursive. The long name states the mission, while the short one does the daily work in URLs, email addresses and conversation. Our guide to premium domain names covers what makes a short name worth paying for.
Big companies use sub-brands
Meta and Microsoft did not register new names for their superintelligence groups, as far as we could find. They placed them on paths of domains they already own: meta.com/superintelligence and microsoft.ai/superintelligence. That keeps attention on the parent domain but only works when the parent brand is already strong.
The obvious .com names are taken
On October 5, 2026, asi.com showed the site of Automatic Systems, Inc., a material handling company. At superintelligence.com, a site headed “Accelerate Safer SuperIntelligence (SI)” linked to Craig A. Kaplan. The domain asi.ai redirected to a third-party “domain sold” page. Whatever SSI’s reasons, its brand lives on .inc, not on .com.
How .com, .ai, .inc and .si compare
The four extensions send different signals. The .com and .inc domains are generic top-level domains. The .ai domain is Anguilla’s country code, but Google treats it as generic. The .si domain is Slovenia’s country code, and Google reads it as a country signal.

According to IANA’s record for .inc, it is a generic TLD sponsored by Intercap Registry Inc. and registered on July 3, 2018. The Government of Anguilla manages .ai, and ARNES, the Academic and Research Network of Slovenia, manages .si through Register.si. Prices differ as well: Domain Name Wire put the .ai wholesale price at $160 with a two-year minimum, against a €10 annual registry fee for .si. Our guide to .ai domains covers prices and rules.
.si is Slovenia’s country-code domain. For AI companies it reads as SuperIntelligence. That reading is our framing, not an official meaning. It is also why a .si name can signal superintelligence without spelling the word out.
Google’s treatment matters for a global brand. Google Search Central lists .ai among the country codes it treats as generic, and .si is not on that list (page updated December 10, 2025). A site on .si therefore sends a Slovenia signal. A global team can run its main site on a generic domain and redirect the .si name there, as Recursive does, or accept the signal knowingly. Our guide to ccTLDs explains the setup options.
The 2026 SI moment and what it did to .si
In late September 2026, “SI” went from a proposed nickname for AI to official US federal usage within 10 days, and .si registrations jumped. The sequence matters, because the wording changed along the way.

- September 19, 2026: a social media post by US President Donald Trump floated several names for AI, including “Superior Intelligence (SI),” as reported by N1 and Register.si.
- September 22: at the UN General Assembly, Trump spoke of “super intelligence, SI” as the more accurate term (Euronews).
- September 24: Register.si announced that .si had passed 200,000 domains.
- September 29: Executive Order 14434, titled Inaugurating the Era of Super Intelligence, told the executive branch to use “Super Intelligence” and “SI” in place of “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI”.
- October 5: the Register.si homepage counter showed 300,497 .si domains.
Executive Order 14434, signed September 29, 2026, made SI an official US federal term. It does not require changes to earlier regulations, contracts, grants or historical documents, and it sets 60 days for a proposed statutory definition. The order concerns federal language only and does not make .si an official AI domain.
Register.si’s notice in Slovenian of September 24 said all registrars pay the same €10 registration price, while each registrar sets the final price for domain holders. It called media speculation about Slovenia earning millions from the interest in .si baseless. It also advised holders of trademarks, slogans and company names without a .si domain to register one soon.
The surge is well documented. N1 reported on September 25 that 3,698 .si names had been registered in 24 hours, more than the 3,515 in the whole previous month. Trending Topics, citing Domaintechnik, put a normal September day at about 100 registrations, against 3,234 on the day after the UN speech. Register.si counted 46,066 new .si domains in September and 300,497 in total on October 5, 2026. The counter changes daily, and an earlier reading that day showed 295,465.
Prices in the press need care. On September 30, N1 and STA reported .si names offered for more than $1 million. Examples included build.si at $10 million and seed.si at $8 million, according to the domains’ own landing pages. These are asking prices, not sales. The best-documented end-user sale tied to superintelligence remains Recursive.si at $20,000. Our complete guide to the .si domain covers registration and the full growth numbers.
Trademarks and domain disputes
No AI lab owns the word superintelligence as a US trademark, but lab names and acronyms are a different matter. Dispute panels also ignore the extension, so a name on .si is judged on the part before the dot.
Safe Superintelligence Inc. filed three US applications on May 15, 2025, all in Class 42 for AI research services. SAFE SUPERINTELLIGENCE (serial number 99187873) and SSI in standard characters (99187870) both received a notice of allowance. An opposition against the stylized SSI mark (99187884) is pending at the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. As of October 5, 2026, none of the three had registered. The USPTO record for serial number 99187873 disclaims the word SUPERINTELLIGENCE, so SSI does not claim it on its own.
Others want the word too. Superfile, Inc. filed the plain word mark SUPERINTELLIGENCE (99288919) on July 17, 2025, and the USPTO suspended action on it on June 3, 2026. The registered marks that contain the word are all compounds, such as ENERGY SUPERINTELLIGENCE (registered in 2018) and SUPERINTELLIGENCE BY IQ COMPANY (registered on April 28, 2026). The latter disclaims the word SUPERINTELLIGENCE. New filings followed the UN speech and the order: UNITED SUPER INTELLIGENCE (September 24) and FORWARD EDGE SUPER INTELLIGENCE (October 4). Starkey Laboratories filed SUPER INTELLIGENCE for hearing aids (50140882) on October 1.
For domains on .com, .ai or .inc, the UDRP applies. A complainant must prove three elements:
- The domain is identical or confusingly similar to a mark in which the complainant has rights.
- The holder has no rights or legitimate interests in the domain.
- The domain was registered and is being used in bad faith.
Under section 1.11.1 of the WIPO Overview 3.0, panels disregard the top-level domain in the first test. A name like ssi.si would therefore be compared with the SSI mark on the letters ssi alone. Section 1.8 adds that extra descriptive words do not prevent a finding of confusing similarity. Disputes over .si names go not to UDRP but to the alternative dispute resolution procedure run within Register.si. This is general information, not legal advice.
How to choose a superintelligence domain
Choose a name that works as a brand on its own, clears a trademark search and fits the market its extension signals. The SI reading is a bonus, not the foundation.
- Make sure the name works without the SI reading. Someone who has never heard the framing should still remember it.
- Keep it short and easy to spell. SSI, MSL and Recursive all compress long legal names.
- Run a trademark search in the USPTO database and in each market you sell in, before you buy or register.
- Avoid lab names and their marks. A domain like ssi.si, or a lab name plus a descriptive word, invites a dispute whatever the extension.
- Match the extension to your market. Google treats .ai as generic and reads .si as a Slovenia signal, so decide whether .si hosts your main site or redirects to it.
- Set a budget. Register.si charges registrars the same €10 for a .si registration, but each registrar sets its own retail price, and taken names sell on the aftermarket at prices their owners set.
Our portfolio lists three kinds of names at fixed aftermarket asking prices, as of October 2026. The common English word rapid.si is listed at €12,000, essai.si, which contains AI, at €6,000, and the 3-letter mkr.si at €4,500. These are asking prices, not appraisals or sale records, and no domain is certain to gain value.
What to do next
Start with the brand and the trademark check in every case. What comes next depends on who you are.
AI founder
Pick a short name you can protect, then choose the extension and setup by market, as described above. If your ideal name is taken, budget for the aftermarket instead of adding words to a lab’s name.
Agency or marketing team
A superintelligence domain can give an AI search or GEO service a clear hook, but clients will search for your brand, not the category. Keep the name short and well clear of SSI, Meta and Microsoft marks.
Domain investor
Registrations are not the same as end-user demand. Domain Name Wire noted on October 1, 2026, that no startups on one launch tracker had launched with .si in the previous 30 days. On .ai, the count that day was 50. Treat million-dollar figures as asking prices, check trademarks before you buy, and read this as market information, not investment advice.
